A sum of 10 billion dollars will be spent on gas supply projects in the fourth five-year economic development plan (2005-10), said an official in charge of gas affairs on Saturday, IRNA reported from Arak in Markazi province.
Director of the Gas Supply and Sales Department at National Iranian Gas Company Hamid-Reza Araqi told a group of gas department officials here on Saturday that his company is to set up several gas refineries, including the Bid Boland-2 gas supply project, in the fourth plan.
Araqi said supplying 33 industrial townships with gas, establishment of eight high-pressure stations, and laying about 3,000 kilometers of gas pipelines will be the main projects of the NIGC in the fourth plan.
The company has thus far been successful in laying 1,870 kilometers of gas pipelines, hiring 870,000 people and providing gas to 60 percent of the population of 1,300,000 in Markazi province.
More than 2.5 billion cubic meters of gas are consumed annually in the province.
