Artistic Director and Principal Choreographer Nima Kiann will present Les Ballets Persans in its USA debut at the Aratani / Japan America Theatre in Los Angeles, as the start of its nationwide tour in the United States and Canada. Les Ballets Persans is about making a mix of Western classical ballet and contemporary technique and Persian folklore, ritual dance and epic. In this engagement the company takes a new step to present Persian Opera in its repertoire.

The US Debut Tour of Les Ballets Persans will include selected works of the dance company's popular repertoire including "Leila", "Simay-Jan", the ritual Sufi dance of "Samã", "Femme" and excerpts of the company's new full-length ballet, the spiritual piece "Hallaj". The highlight of this engagement will be the world premiere of the ballet of "Kaveh The Blacksmith" (excerpts) based on the Persian national epic; Shahnameh of Ferdowsi exclusively choreographed for Les Ballets Persans' US Tour engagement.

Les Ballets Persans, the successor company of the former Iranian National Ballet was founded by Nima Kiann in Sweden and has been supported by Swedish authorities. The company introduced its World Premiere Gala Performance in October 2002, in Stockholm with the involvement of 106 participants from 22 different countries. Media has called the project "the most extensive Iranian artistic project ever realized in exile". The idea of recreating the Iranian National Ballet attracted worldwide attention and was regarded as an important integration project in Sweden.
