Tashkent, March 14, IRNA -- Ali Ashkani and Massoud Hashemzadeh, two Greco-Roman wrestlers of Iran, qualified for 2004 Athens Olympic Games here Sunday.
In 60 kg, Ashkani stunned his Venezuelan and Australian opponents, edging past the duo in the fourth and fifth rounds on technical fall, booking a berth in the most prestigious event.
Hashemzadeh gave his Yugoslav rival a 8-0 licking, throwing the gauntlet for 96 kg wrestlers in the Olympic Games. Sajjad Barzi and Behrouz Jamshidi, Iran's 120 and 84 kg representatives, qualified for the Olympics Saturday and their teammate Mohsen Poudanaki did not make it and Iran missed 74 kg berth in 2004 Games.
World-class 55 kg wrestler Hassan Rangraz and 66 kg wrestler Parviz Zeidvand have already advanced to the Olympic Games.
The victories gave Iran six out of seven berths.
Iran has qualified for all seven spots in freestyle wrestling event of the Olympic Games.
