He told IRNA that such edifices symbolize the city's cultural identity and should be restored as well as protected.
"The company entrusted with cultural development in the Culture and Art Organization affiliated to Tehran Municipality has been assigned the task and will soon begin its work.
"In addition, memorial tablets will be made for men of culture from other cities or those residing outside Tehran and will be installed in the capital city," he added.
The official said that the intended move is in line with plans drawn up by the cultural and social commissions of Tehran Islamic Council and aims to promote the cultural environment across the capital city.
He said it was his hope that constructive steps would be taken to improve the cultural and artistic atmosphere in urban cities.
