After the inaugural ceremony, the president visited several sections of the exhibition.
Some 1000 dailies and magazines are taking part in the 11th Press Festival being held in Tehran May 6-13.
The festival which carries the motto of "Press, Means of Investigating and Accountability" is being held simultaneous with the 17th International Book Fair at the venue of Tehran International Exhibition.
Some 400 publications with nationwide circulation, including 44 with wide coverage, are participating in the event.
Furthermore, 391 local publications together with 200 dailies and magazines distributed in various Asian countries including Japan, India, Pakistan, UAE, Afghanistan and Tajikistan as well as seven news agencies owned by the private sector are among other print media taking part in the event.
Magazines published by students in universities will be put at display in the festival as well.
Seventeen associations active in the field will also display their achievements during the eight-day event.
Since the Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Ali Khamenei has designated the current Iranian year as the year of accountability, the exhibition will demonstrate the significant role of the press in this connection.
Expert committees dealing with various topics will meet on the sidelines of the exhibition as well.
