Motamedi made the remarks in an international workshop jointly held by the United Nations (UN) and Iran themed 'Utilization of Space Technology for Environment, Donation of Assistance after Natural Disasters, and Sustainable Development due to Need for Effective Reconstruction and Speedy Decision-Making'.
He pointed to the need for effective rebuilding of devastated sites after natural disasters by making use of accurate, comprehensive and timely data on natural disasters.
"Iran has been in negotiations to design, build and launch a multi-purposes satellite with regional cooperation,' said Motamedi.
He expressed hope that Mesbah satellite will be soon launched and the talks on constructing and launching the national satellite Zohreh will be finalized.
Head of Iran's Space Organization Hassan Shafti highlighted space technology to check natural disasters and help in the aftermath of such tragedies by rebuilding the damaged sites, supporting homeless people and preserving the environment.
