Iran sends 100 truck-loads of cargo to Iraq via Shalamcheh daily

Shalamcheh, May 10, IRAN-- Iran sends about 100 truck-loads of cargo to Iraq via Shalamcheh border point per day, said a provincial official here Monday.

There is no restrictions on export of goods to Iraq through Shalamcheh border crossing, said an official with Khorramshahr governor's office, Ali Farsani.

He added that despite lack of security in Iraq, the trend of exporting goods to that country via Shalamcheh border point was acceptable in the past Iranian month of Farvardin (March 20 to April 19). Farsani went on to say that dispatch of pilgrims to Iraqi holy cities has been banned due to lack of security in that country.

Ban on pilgrimage trips to Iraq would be lifted after receiving necessary permits from Iran's interior ministry and the Pilgrimage Organization.
