Tehran, May 26, IRNA -- The sixth Majlis officially ended its tenure
here Wednesday with an open session in which six reports by Research
and Auditory Commission of Majlis were read out.

The Research and Auditory Commission of Majlis reports included
those on the Norwegian oil company Statoil's bribe scandal, the
state-owned banks, auto-manufacturing industries, aircraft industries,
protests in the southwestern town of Semirom and train explosion in
Neishaboor, Khorassan province.

Outgoing Majlis Speaker Mehdi Karroubi officially announced the
end of the sixth Majlis tenure and the representatives paid tributes
to the war martyrs and the late founder of the Islamic Revolution Imam
Khomeini.

Many Iranian youth lost their lives during the Iraq-imposed war in
1980-88.
Karroubi appreciated the performance of the lawmakers and
presented each of them a volume of complete works of Hafez, the great
Iranian poet.

The 7th Majlis is scheduled to take office officially tomorrow,
Thursday.
Nationwide elections were held on February 20 for the 290-seat
Islamic consultative assembly.
