Tokyo, May 28, IRNA -- France's volleyball team grabbed its fifth consecutive win with
a victory over challenging Iran in the final qualifying tournament
for 2004 Athens Olympic Games here Friday.
World bronze medalist France, which has not lost a single set,
handed Iran a 3-0 defeat by winning 33-31, 25-19, 25-21 in
Metropolitan Hall.
Iran had earlier lost to Canada and China and won South Korea
and Japan.
It faces Algeria Saturday and plays Australia Sunday.
In another Friday's qualifier, the Aussies won Asian champion
South Korea 4-1.
Australia, which stood fourth in the Asian championships in 2003,
scored a 25-21, 25-15, 21-25, 25-19 victory over Koreans.
On May 29, Australia meets Asian runner-up China.
The Chinese side eased past Algeria Friday, winning 25-15, 25-16,
25-15 in three straight sets.
The winner and the top-finishing Asian country will qualify for
the Olympics.
