Tehran, May 29, IRNA -- An earthquake measuring 4.6 degrees on the
Richter scale hit the city of Bam in the southeastern province
of Kerman Saturday morning.
The seismological base of Geophysics Institute of Tehran
University registered the quake at 07:03 hours local time (0233 GMT).
There were no immediate reports of any casualties or damage to
property caused by the quake.
A devastating earthquake with a magnitude of 6.3 degrees on
the Richter scale rocked the historical city of Bam on December 26,
2003, killing over 30,000 people and injuring tens of thousands of
others.
Iran is situated on some of the world's most active seismic
fault lines and quakes of varying magnitudes are of usual occurrence.
