Quake hits northeastern Iranian city of Gonbad

Tehran, Nov 2, IRNA -- An earthquake measuring 4.3 degrees on the open-ended Richter scale shook the city of Gonbad in the northeastern province of Golestan Monday.

According to the seismological base of Tehran University's Geophysics Institute, the tremor, which epicentered in an area east of Gonbad, occurred at 23:50 hours local time (2020 GMT).

There were no reports of any casualty or damage to property caused by the quake.

Iran is situated on some of the world's most active seismic fault lines and quakes of varying magnitudes are of usual occurrence.
