Director General of the Comprehensive Planning, Sustainable Development and Environment Department at Management and Planning Organization Mahmoud Ketabchi told IRNA on Saturday that employment opportunities now available should double by that date.
Ketabchi said manpower is another important advantage of Iran in the world.
In the first four years of the Third Five-Year Economic, Social, and Cultural Development Plan (2000-05), 2,280,000 jobs were created, which constituted 78.8 percent of the target set for the purpose.
Based on the Third Plan Law, 2,570,000 jobs should have been provided in the first four years of the Plan annually on the average. The figure stood at 383,000 annually on the average in the First Plan (1989-1995) and 281,000 in the Second Plan (1995-2000).
