Iran stands second at world youth Greco-Roman bouts

Tehran, Nov 8, IRNA -- Iran pulverized the French team 19-7 to finish runner-up in 2004 World Youth Greco-Roman Wrestling Championships in Tbilisi, capital of Georgia, Sunday night.

The Iranian team snatched the second title for the first time as it beat Belarus 15-12 in the first clash, lost to the host 18-8 and edged past the United States 14-12 before it arrayed against the French wrestlers.

Georgia was crowned and the US ranked third.

On Sunday, the Iranians won six out of seven bouts against France's representatives.

In 55 kg, Hamid Sourian crushed his rival 5-1.

Iranian sensation Hamid Bavafa upset the French 60 kg wrestler with a technical fall.

Ali Mohammadi representing Iran in 66 kg category defeated his opponent 3-1.

Farshad Alizadeh was the sole Iranian wrestler, who lost as he was thrashed 9-0 in 74 kg clash.

Qassem Rezaei overcame France's 84 kg representative 5-3.

Reza Zeidvand struggled to a 2-1 victory at the extra time of 96 kg clash.

Siavash Qalavand clobbered his French rival 11-4 in 120 kg bout.
