Foreign Ministry advises Iranian pilgrims not to travel to Iraq

Tehran, Nov 9, IRNA -- Foreign Ministry announced in Tehran on Tuesday that Iranian pilgrims who wish to travel to Iraq should postpone their trips under present emergency situation of that country.

The ministry called on Iranian pilgrims to obtain visa prior to their visit to the country and avoid going there through illegal channels.

According to the Information and Press Bureau of the Foreign Ministry, any visit to the war-shattered country should take its legal course including visa acquirement.

The ministry expressed the hope that with restoration of security to the neighboring Iraq, the grounds for travel of Iranian pilgrims to the holy places in Iraq would be prepared as soon as possible.
