Highlighting the significant role of the border guards in promotion of bilateral cultural and economic relations, Soleymani called for facilitation of Iranian and Azeri nationals' movement through the two countries' borders.
The Iranian ambassador expressed Tehran's readiness for full-scale expansion of ties with Baku.
"We will use any potential that would help meet interests of both sides," he said.
He also thanked Goliev for his efforts to prevent illegal entry of goods into Iran.
The Azeri official for his part congratulated Soleymani on his appointment as new Iranian ambassador to Baku, voicing Azerbaijan's readiness for broader cooperation with Tehran.
"Azerbaijan has always been trying to remove likely impediments and provide further facilities for border crossing of the two countries' nationals."
The two sides also stressed following up illegal border crossings of the Iranian and Azeri nationals and smuggle of goods into the either country.
