Iranian Cultural Heritage News Agency (CHN) has launched the English version of its tourism news site in a bid to cover latest developments of Iran's fledging tourism industry, aggressively developed to diversify its oil-dependent economy.
Users can find up-to-minute news stories about the industry, its attractions and potential for investment, written and/or collected by CHN staff. Launched to mark Eid-ul-Fitr at the end of the holy month of Ramadan, the new site could be reached at www.chntourism.com/english.
The news agency launched Iran's first tourism news site, in Persian, just 3 months ago. CHN was established over 2 years ago to highlight importance of preserving cultural heritage in Iran, where authorities inclined to ignore it as the country embarked on a major development drive after a devastating 8-year-old war imposed by the former Iraqi President Saddam Hussein. As a result, now officials are more likely to weigh collateral damage their development projects might inflict on Iran's age-old monuments.
The site, which also features an English version, is viewed by thousands visitors, mainly from academic centers worldwide.
