Tehran, Nov 19, IRNA -- Chancellor of Kashan University said the first
nanotechnology research center was established in Kashan University
this academic year (started September 22).
Hassan Daqiq added as per the approval of Development Council for
Higher Education of Science, Research and Technology Ministry the
first nanotechnology research center, divided into 3 research groups
including carbonic structures, thin layers and nanoparticles, was
established in Kashan.
"Following the setting up of 3 nanotechnology workshops at the
university, research groups were formed and the related license was
issued by the Science Ministry," he added.
Daqiq underlined the revolution staged by nanotechnology and said
"It has revolutionize the technology of molecules and atom to atom
layouts, which has put the long-term dreams of human in this regard
into practice."
He also pointed out the scientific status of Kashan University
among the country's universities, maintaining "Due to an increase in
the number of papers written by the Scientific Board of the
university, it ranked fifth among the country's top universities and
research centers."
Nanotechnology is a new technology for creating MEMS
(Micro-Electro-Mechanical Systems) in the "Nano" range which is 3
orders of magnitude or 1000 times smaller than the current generation
of MEMS devices.
Kashan university, comprising of four colleges and some 4.5
thousand students in 51 courses, ranked fifth in the country's top
universities list after Zanjan Post-graduate College, Sharif
