Portugal pulverizes Iran at world futsal meet

Tehran, Nov 22, IRNA -- Portugal upset the undisputed Asian futsal champion, Iran, 4-0 in their opening match in Taiwan Monday.

Powered by Brazilian trio, Silva, Leo, and Marcelinho, the world's third-place side hit two in each half to take the first step firmly.

Luis Silva took the lead for the Portuguese side with a powerful shot in the 10th minute and Leo made it 2-0 four minutes later when he rifled home with a ferocious left drive.

Joel Queiros collected a well-flighted cross by the live-wire keeper Joao Benedito on 27 minutes to steer the ball through the legs of the in-form Iran goalie Reza Nasseri.

Queiros was denied by Nasseri, who sent his spot-kick out in the 37th minute but Zezito grabbed the fourth moments later.

Iran has a herculean task to do in Group 4 as it takes on Cuba Wednesday and arrays against Argentine Friday.
