Iran: First Electronic Government starts operation in Isfahan
Isfahan, Nov 27, IRNA -- For the first time ever in the country an Electronic Government in the city of Isfahan started operation, it was announced on Saturday.

The goals in launching the Electronic Government is to increase use of electronic systems by governmental bodies to conduct their business as well as to provide civilians with their needed services in the city.

Some ten governmental bodies have been engaged in the project to render services to people.

In the opening ceremony, Presidential Advisor and Secretary for High Council on Information Nasrollah Jahangard said that "We take pride in witnessing our country keep up with developed countries in making use of modern information and communications technologies."

The electronic system is to pool all governmental services in one center to facilitate their rendering to people, he said.

People should have access to all information rendered by governmental bodies, he underlined.

It took three years to launch the system in the city, he pointed out.

In case the tentative plan in the province turns out to be a success, similar projects will be implemented in all parts of the country, Isfahan's Governor General Mahmoud Hosseini said in the ceremony.
