Tehran, Oct 21, IRNA -- Two Iranian teachers were jointly awarded the
2004 Universal Forum of Cultures' first prize, held in Barcelona,
Spain, in May, it was reported in Tehran on Thursday.
The Iranian teachers, Susan Nikzat and Ali Fasseh Ramandi, were
awarded the prize in a ceremony dubbed 'Commemoration of Peace' in the
forum, according to a report released by Spain's Embassy in Tehran, a
copy of which was made available to IRNA.
The Universal Forum of Cultures was inaugurated on May 8, 2004 in
Barcelona in the presence of Spain's King Juan Carlos I, other
officials and the director-general of UNESCO.
Amir Mohammad Daneshvar, form Iran, was also awarded the prize for
painting, among the children under seven years old.
The activities of the Universal Forum of Cultures focused on three
core themes; cultural diversity and the dialogue of culture,
sustainable development and conditions for peace.
The ceremony of introducing the winners was held in September at
the site of the Egyptian Institute of Islamic Studies in Madrid,
Spain.
In the ceremony, Iran' cultural advisor was also present.
