Tehran, Oct 26, IRNA -- Iran's Ambassador to Damascus Mohammad-Reza
Baqeri said on Tuesday that establishment of factory for production of
Samand Sedan in Syria is considered as a turning point in expansion of
industrial cooperation between the two countries as well as in the
region.
The ministers of industries of the two countries along with a
number of economic officials are to attend the special ceremony to
inaugurate construction of the factory.
The plant will come on stream within 15 months and in its first
phase some five thousands will be produced per annum while in the
second phase this figure will rise to 15,000.
Iran Khodro Company filled the gap between the two countries in
cooperation in auto industries, said the Iranian ambassador.
The move is deemed an historical event which is source of pride
for both countries, he said.
Referring to the establishment of common market among Arab states
in the year 2007 in which the member states are exempted from tax and
customs duties, the Iranian-made automobile Samand Sedan will find a
remarkable status in the region.
Syrian president as well as industries minister and other high
ranking officials back the project which will create job opportunities
and leave a positive impact on the country's transportation system, he
said.
