The South Pars field will initially produce 14 million cubic meters of gas per day and at full capacity will reach 58 million cubic meters of gas per day (20 billion cubic meters per year).
Eni announces that production at the gas and condensate field of South Pars in the Islamic Republic of Iran, within phases 4 and 5 of the development project, has successfully started up. The South Pars field, located in the Iranian waters of the Persian Gulf, will initially produce 14 million cubic meters of gas per day and at full capacity will reach 58 million cubic meters of gas per day (20 billion cubic meters per year).
Eni is successfully completing all the development activities of phases 4 and 5 of the South Pars field. The development plan includes: the set-up of two platforms in about 60 meters of water, the building of the onshore gas process plant in Assaluyeh (250 kilometers southeast of Bushehr), the laying of two marine sealines of a length of 100 kilometers and a diameter of 32" each for the transport of gas from the field to the plant in Assaluyeh and the drilling of appraisal and development wells.
Eni is Operator of the development of South Pars phases 4 and 5 with a 60% stake and operates in joint venture with Petropars (20%) and Naftiran Intertrade Co. (NICO) Limited (20%) on behalf of the National Iranian Oil Company. The development of South Pars phases 4 and 5 is on schedule to be completed within 5 years from the date of signature of the contract in July 2000.
With the South Pars phases 4 and 5 project, Eni further consolidates its activity in Iran, where it has been present since 1957 and where it is Operator for the development of the Darquain onshore oil field, as well as being a partner in the joint ventures developing the Dorood and Balal oil fields.
