In a press release on Sunday, Iran Air said the growth is due to the 6.8 percent increase in the number of passengers travelling on domestic routes and 32.7 percent rise in the number of passengers on its international flights. The report said the number of the flights had also increased by 8.5 percent in the month compared to the previous month.
In the month under study, 9,369 flight hours were conducted, showing nearly 12 percent growth, said the report, adding that average daily flight hours in the period was seven hours and 59 minutes.
Also, 233,000 passengers travelled overseas on 1,188 flights, showing 32.7 percent increase in number of passengers and 25 percent in flight hours during the month under study.
European and Middle East states were the top destinations of passengers during the period.
Based on the report, 6.8 percent growth was observed in the domestic flights in the period when 530,000 passengers were transported in 3,777 flights -- a growth of 4.7 percent in terms of the number of the passengers.
Iran Air carried 4,061 tons of cargos both on domestic and international routes on six chartered flights during the period -- 6.6 percent growth observed in the period compared to the previous month and 5.3 percent compared to the same month the previous year.
Some 56 percent of the cargos were destined for Europe during the period, concluded the report.
