Festival of European, Iranian children's literature to be held

in Tehran Tehran, Sept 15, IRNA -- The Festival of European and Iranian Children's Literature will be held from September 25 to October 8 at the Institute for the Intellectual Development of Children and Young Adults (IIDCYA) in Tehran.

According to the the English-language daily Tehran Times, the festival is being organized to give artists and cultural figures from different countries the opportunity to exchange views and experiences, showcase cultural variety and encourage Europeans and Iranians to seek a common ground.

A number of European writers, illustrators and scholars are scheduled to participate in the festival.

Several plays inspired by the ancient legends and modern stories of Iran and European countries are to be performed during the event as well.

The program will also feature writing and illustration workshops during which children will be asked to write stories based on European illustration works on display at the festival. Iranian stories will be selected for European children at the festival.

The event is being sponsored by the Austrian non-governmental organization X-change with the cooperation of several organizations from Finland, Sweden, Iran and Norway.
