Tehran province accounts for 26 pc of Iran's GDP

Tehran, Sept 18, IRNA -- Iran's Statistics Center announced in Tehran on Saturday that Tehran province with a revenue of 193,000 billion rials accounts for 26 percent of the gross domestic product (GDP).

According to the figures released by Iran's Statistics Center, Tehran province had the highest GDP rate nationwide in 2001. This is while the province merely accounts for 17.7 percent of the national population.

It further said that the lowest rate of GDP standing at 0.7 percent belonged to Charmahal Bakhtiari province.

"About 51 percent of the national GDP is produced in Tehran, Khuzestan, Khorassan and Isfahan provinces, while they account for 40 percent of the nationwide population," it added.

The survey on provincial per capita GDP shows that Kohkilouyeh and Boyer Ahmad province with a GDP worth 50 million rials ranks first. Meanwhile, Khuzestan, Tehran and Markazi provinces come next with GDP of 22 million rials, 17 million rials and 15 million rials respectively.
