Iran sets clocks back one hour at midnight Monday

Tehran, Sept 20, IRNA -- Iranians will set their clocks back one hour from midnight Monday, the Presidential Office has announced.

The switch from summer time to the standard time, which is carried out a month ahead of most other countries, will put Iran three and a half hours ahead of the Greenwich Mean Time (GMT).

Iran pulls its clocks back nearly at the beginning of autumn and sets them forward by an hour on the first day of spring.

The decision was made by the Iranian cabinet in August 1991.
