IAPAC to Hold One-Year Anniversary Celebration in Northern California

The Iranian American Political Action Committee (IAPAC) will be holding its One-Year Anniversary Fundraising Event, celebrating Iranian American participation in the American electoral process. The event will be held on October 10th in Los Altos Hills, California and will feature political leaders at the local and national level who will speak about the different domestic issues facing our community and the important role that organizations such as IAPAC play in the political process. Special guests will include Congresswoman Anna Eshoo (D-14th/CA) and Candidate Ross Mirkarimi (San Francisco District 5 Board of Supervisors).

Elected to the U.S. Congress in 1992, Congresswoman Eshoo is the Ranking Member on the Intelligence Policy and National Security Subcommittee on Intelligence and serves on the powerful House Energy and Commerce Committee. Congresswoman Eshoo hails from the heart of Silicon Valley and her belief in American competitiveness runs deep. She led the fight to create uniform standards limiting frivolous lawsuits, saving investors and the high-tech industry billions of dollars. Her bill authorizing electronic signatures brought commerce into the digital age and is the model for digital signatures by the European Union.

Mr. Mirkarimi has lived in San Francisco for over 20 years where he has been a tireless force for progressive change. He has spent years defending consumers, building neighborhood coalitions and empowering people to take back their government. Mirkarimi has led some of the most critical campaigns and causes in recent years: Police Reform and Accountability, Sunshine Laws and Public Power-designed to give San Franciscans a greater voice in their energy future. He has pledged to address issues such as neighborhood planning, mass transit and gun violence, and has received key endorsements from District 5 Supervisor Matt Gonzales, former DA Terence Hallinan, former Mayor Art Agnos, Planning Commissioner Christina Olague and school board member Mark Sanchez.
