Quake hits cities of Damavand and Firouzkouh in Iran

Tehran, Sept 24, IRNA -- An earthquake measuring 4.1 degrees on the open-ended Richter scale shook the cities of Damavand and Firouzkouh in Tehran province on Friday.

According to the seismological base of Tehran University's Geophysics Institute, the tremor occurred at 05:12 hours local time (0142 GMT).

There were no reports of casualties or any damage to property.

Iran is situated on some of the world's most active seismic fault lines and quakes of varying magnitudes are usual occurrences.
