Shiraz, Fars prov, Sept 30, IRNA -- An earthquake measuring 3.7
degrees on the open-ended Richter scale shook the town of Evaz in the
southern province of Fars early Thursday.
According to the provincial meteorological base affiliated to
Tehran University's Geophysics Institute, the tremor occurred at 5:37
a.m. local time (02:07 GMT).
There were no reports of any casualty or damage to property.
Iran is situated on some of the world's most active seismic
faultlines and quakes of varying magnitudes are usual occurrences.
