Tehran, Sept 30, IRNA -- The Iranian movie 'Turtles can Fly' which
was admired recently in a film festival in Madrid is to represent
Iranian cinema in the Oscar Academy Award competition.
The board commissioning the task of electing an Iranian movie to
participate in the Oscar ceremony, chose "Turtles can fly" the last
production of Bahman Qobadi as a representative of the Iranian cinema
in the ceremony.
The electing board reached a consensus on the movie after holding
several meetings.
The good technical quality, the global theme of the movie, a
sympathetic conception to peoples' sufferings especially Iraqi's
children and the genuine victims of the Saddam regime and the American
aggressive war were among reasons to elect the movie.
Qobadi was already presented in the Oscar ceremony by the movie
named 'A time for drunken horses.
Among Iranian movies presented to the Oscar ceremony so far,
'Children of Heaven' has been nominated to receive the award.
The ceremony will be held on February 27, 2005.
