Open Letter to Goli Ameri

By Siamak Ahi, Richmond, CA

Ms. Ameri, I want you to do This:

Dear Ms. Ameri,

I congratulate your appointment in UN Human Rights Commission.

Your Iranian background, as of mines, was the reason that checked the website of the commission for the first time, and became familiar with the other members and their impressive resumes, as of yours.

I red the harsh report on Iran and wanted to share a few points with you. I hope you can successfully pursue them.

I grew up in Tehran, Iran. I grew up with kids from different faith and ethnicity: Bahai, Jew, Assyrian, Armenian, Christian, Kurd, Lor, Turk, Arab, Balooch, Gilak.... You name it.

I traveled around that country from beautiful cities to hundreds of villages, and spent day and night in th tent of Nomads: Ghahsghaee, Bakhtiari, Shahsavan... You name it.

I never experienced the harsh picture of that report on Iran.

In fact, I had just many beautiful experiences with them. I loved them. Loving so many different people and different places in that country makes me Proud of my Iranian Background.

The love for this diversity is part of me and I cannot divide or tear apart myself.

It just makes me proud.

On my American side, the fact that even in 1960s part of the population didn't have the right to vote, whereas in Iran all ethnicities had this right, Bothers Me.

I want you to look these issues when you are reporting: "The way people get along with each other, Not the legal right about how to get along or not".

On the links in your website, the regional issues are only Cuba, Sudan, Iran, Iraq, and Belarus.... This a very politically motivated reporting on Human Rights.

You know all African countries and issues.

Just look at the Middle east and central Asia. From Egypt to Saudi Arabia, Jordan, ..To Afghanistan, Pakistan, Uzbekistan and Azerbaijan... You Name it.

Iran Is the only Country that had a Constitutional Revolution 100 years ago, which established and institutionalized bodies like congress or voting system and many other democratic things that survived though different systems of Pahlavi Dynasty and Islamic Republic.

Many countries around Iran are trying to do what has been done in Iran 100 years ago. They are being appreciated by US, and Iran is being ignored.

Ignoring the changes in Iran with such long history of changes, cannot provide a real, useful and productive Human Rights Report.

Ignoring so many countries in the links cannot serve a Human Rights Efforts in general. It is just Politically motivated and doesn't have a long term effect.

Dear Ms Ameri.

I think you know very well that "The Israeli Palestinian Issue" is a source of different type of extremism in the region. and "Hurts all kind of Human Right Efforts".

Dear Ms. Ameri

If you can focus on this issue, you can get a lot done in your term.

The most important thing I want and urge you to do, is pushing for "The Israeli Constitution".

Israeli postpone this "Most Important Task: A Jewish State Should Work on a Jewish Constitution". They are always being concerned about this village that wall....and so on. It is wasting time.

Constitution of Israel will be the Solution of many Israeli Issues, many Regional and Global Issues.

I urge you to be forceful on this issue in your term and wish you good luck.

Regards,
Siamak D. Ahi

PS: I wanted to copy this email to all members of the committee. I could't find the address. please forward it to them.
