Tehran, April 17, IRNA-MP Kazem Jalali said in Tehran on Sunday that Majlis National Security and Foreign Policy Commission is scheduled to send a fact finding team to Khuzestan province to investigate the causes of recent disturbances in the region.
Circulation of a fake letter in Khuzestan province last Friday, calling for change of the demographic structure of this southwestern province, provoked some disturbances in southern city of Ahvaz with mobs smashing windows of state banks and offices in the city.
The province of Khuzestan is considered as a main region of the Islamic country with its people playing their effective role during the history to protect Iran's territorial integrity and sovereignty, said Jalali, rapporteur of Majlis National Security and Foreign Policy Commission.
"It seems that some hands are at work to take advantage of the event," he said.
MPs from the cities of Shiraz, Ahvaz and Orumiyeh are the members of the fact finding team to be dispatched to Khuzestan, he added.
Jalali noted that besides the dispatch of the team, the ministers of information and interior have been assigned to investigate the causes of disturbances in Ahvaz and the public will be informed over the result of their investigation soon.
