Rasht, Gilan prov, April 17, IRNA-Head of Iran's International Sturgeon Research Institute Mohammad Pourkazemi said on Sunday in Rasht that the Fifth International Sturgeon Symposium will be held at Parsian Hotel in the provincial city of Ramsar on May 9-13.
He added that the symposium mainly aims to present the latest scientific progress associated with preserving and breeding sturgeon fish and preventing the extinction of the present generation of the species.
"Two hundred articles have already been submitted to the secretariat of the symposium, out of which 150 selected ones will be presented during the upcoming event.
"The conference will be attended by 160 foreign guests and several training workshops on ways of breeding sturgeon fish and preventing their extinction will be held," he added.
Pourkazemi noted that 20-24 million three-gram young sturgeon fish will be breaded at the Fishery Organization's farming centers in order to be dropped into the sea with the objective to stop extinction of the present generation of this species.
