Spring is here and even though it has become so hot, Tehran Art scene is back in full swing after the long New Year's holidays. And many of you may know that several Tehran galleries openings are on Friday afternoons.
Last Friday I started my new season's work by going to the Golestan Gallery. A small yet diverse repertoire of the well known Iranian artist Mr. Parviz Kalantari was on display at the gallery.
This interesting retrospective was staged and organized with the help of the Iranian Painters Association as part of a program to commemorate and pay homage to a group of well known Iranian artists. Other artists in this group, whose works have been displayed in galleries around Tehran include Mr. Yaghoub Ammameh-Pich, Mrs. Parivashe Ganghiw and Mr. Sadeghi.
The Golestan gallery is the place to see and be seen on Friday afternoons, and this day was no exception - many Tehran avant-gardes and well known faces had come to see these wonderful works.
Here we saw older works and some new ones; and some of his very well known trade marks, cob (clay & straw) were present in the works. I liked some of the collages, and as always I enjoyed looking at Mr. Kalantari's work.
Many of the works were already sold when I got there, almost before the exhibition had started; and this shows not only the importance and recognition of his work among the art collectors in Iran and abroad but also their popularity with general art loving audience.
I have taken a few pictures from all aspects of his work for you so that you can roam around and see for yourselves
