Iran's Center for Advocates of Human Rights said on Monday that the charge raised against lawyer Abdolfattah Soltani cannot be taken as a crime, IRNA reported from Tehran.
The Center said in a statement faxed to IRNA that revealing content of a case to family of a defendant by defense lawyer is an ordinary work and cannot be taken as a crime.
The Judiciary arrested Abdolfattah Soltani, the defense lawyer of several people who have been accused of spying on national nuclear program, for revealing details of his clients' cases to their families.
The Center said that the arrest warrant against Soltani lacks legal base and called for his immediate release.
Soltani, a human rights activist, was arrested on Saturday for what Judiciary spokesman Jamal Karimi-rad said as "revealing details of the case of those accused of spying on national nuclear program to their families."
Karimi-rad said that Soltani has disclosed details of the case to the media.
