Tehran, Aug 2, IRNA-Kurdestan Petrochemical Company of Iran has awarded on Tuesday an "EPCC" contract to a consortium of Tecnimont of Italy and PIDEC of Iran to construct a Low Density Polyethylene plant in Sanandaj, Kurdestan province, north west of Iran.
The contract was signed between KOPC's Managing Director Fereydoun Khaled-Zadeh, Managing Director of Iran PIDEC Company Mohammad-Hassan Kadivar and the Managing Director of Tecnimont of Italy Pratesi in Tehran.
The plant which will be based on Basell Polyolefin LUPOTECH Technology, will produce 300,000 ton/year of LDPE in various grades and 30,000 of Butene-1 for domestic consumption and export.
The plant will consume (315,000 ton/year) of ethylene as feed, which will be supplied by the 11th olefin plant complex through West ethylene Pipeline. Utilities, including power, water and steam will be supplied by the utilities plant of Kurdestan Petrochemical Complex.
The contract covers grant of license, basic and detailed engineering, supply of equipment and materials, construction, rection, pre-commissioning, commissioning start up and performance tests.
The plant is scheduled to be completed in 38 months.
Kurdestan Petrochemical company will implement and operate the project.
Meanwhile, speaking on the sidelines of the signing ceremony, the Managing Director of the National Petrochemical Company (NPC) of Iran Mohammad-Reza Nematzadeh put the value of the contract at Euro 218 million, which is to be commissioned in a 38-month period.
