Tehran, Aug 3, IRNA-Iran's President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad on Wednesday appealed for an end to all weapons threatening the world's security, including weapons of mass destruction (WMDs) and nuclear, chemical, and biological weapons used by the hegemonic powers.
He made the remark while addressing a ceremony at Imam Khomeini Hosseinieh, downtown Tehran, where his presidency was confirmed by the Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei.
The Islamic Republic of Iran wants sustainable peace and all-out justice for all nations, Ahmadinejad stressed.
Adopting discriminatory and double-standard policies toward nations and making use of special privileges and concessions in different economic, political, and scientific areas by certain governments and depriving other nations of those rights are the manifestations of injustice, he added.
He further stressed that promotion of justice will strengthen pillars of unity and national solidarity.
Great potentials of the Islamic Iran, namely, historical background, rich culture, huge human resources, material and spiritual assets, strategic location, and scientific and technical achievements should be used in a way to further develop the country, he said.
Ahmadinejad also put great emphasis on justice, peace, and public rights as his priorities as the 6th president of the Islamic Republic of Iran.
He said the new government will stress four principles, promotion of justice, attention to people's needs, serving all the masses, and material and moral progress of the country.
The new government will start its activities with the objective of serving people by recruiting committed, brave, popular, and skillful ministers, he noted.
During the ceremony, the responsibility of the executive branch was handed over to the newly elected president.
Senior Iranian authorities, ranking army officials, and a number of Tehran-based foreign diplomats attended the ceremony.
Ahmadinejad managed to win over 17 million votes as Iran's sixth president during the 9th presidential runoff on June 24.
