Iran will never give in to bullying powers: Supreme Leader

Tehran, Aug 3, IRNA-Supreme Leader Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei here Wednesday said Iran will never give in to bullying powers particularly the United States the "Great Satan."

Talking at the confirmation ceremony of President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, the Supreme Leader added, "The Iranian people love peace and are not against other peoples.

"We have never been aggressive toward a state or a nation. We have strongly defended our rights and will do it again."

Shifting to some US officials' remarks against democracy in Iran, Ayatollah Khamenei said, "Let enemies say whatever they want. The (Iranian) nation has found its way and will keep treading this track firmly."

Certain US officials announced that Iran's democracy was not acceptable to them, recalled the Supreme Leader, adding, "Such views about other nations are deep rooted in an evil, arrogant habit the Great Satan has fallen into."

He added, "A real democracy arises from religion and faith." Referring to Iran's 9th presidential elections, Ayatollah Khamenei said, "When a presidential candidate scores a landslide victory, he is indebted to nobody but God and people. This is the real meaning of democracy."

Ahmadinejad, 49, was formally inaugurated as president Wednesday following his stunning election victory in June, winning over 17 million votes in the runoff.

He is scheduled to take oath of office on Saturday.
