Beijing, Aug 5, IRNA-After a May decision by the World Trade Organization (WTO) to open membership talks with Iran, the Islamic Republic is now consulting with China on basic requirements that must be taken care of to join the organization.
Director of the Institute for Agricultural Researches, Planning and Economy of Iran Hassan Kazemi said here on Friday that he had led a delegation to China to benefit the experiences of the country in its 15 years of negotiations to join the WTO.
Kazemi said his delegation had particularly targeted China's negotiation expertise in the area of agriculture.
He said Iran's talks with countries which are to attend the WTO working groups would pave the way for joining the organization.
He said after the victory of Islamic revolution in 1979, Iran has obtained significant experience on economy and economic policies in the field of agriculture.
Holding joint educational and research workshops, short-period training courses and researching on agricultural economy were among the agreements reached on, Kazemi said.
This was the first visit of an Iranian delegation to China for holding talks on joining WTO.
