Majlis speaker: EU-3 proposal does not recognize Iran's rights

Tehran, Aug 7, IRNA-Majlis Speaker Gholam-Ali Haddad-Adel said in Tehran on Sunday the EU-3 proposal does not safeguard Iran's rights. The three European countries proposal has not actually suggested to recognize Iran's right to civilian nuclear technology, he told the MPs in the opening session of Majlis.

He said that Iran is determined to make use of peaceful nuclear energy, adding that the Europeans, apparently, would like Iran to suspend enrichment permanently and stop enrichment-related activities completely.

"The (objective) guarantee is meaningful when something is being done and you get (objective) guarantee for not to exceed the boundaries." "If Iran could not make use of nuclear energy, which country could use it given all the very cooperation Iran has exercised?", he asked.

His comment came on the threshold of the emergency meeting of the IAEA's Board of Governors on Tuesday in Vienna to discuss Iran's nuclear case.

The EU-3 -- Britain, Germany and France delivered an offer to Iran calling for a halt to nuclear enrichment work.

Iran rejected the EU offer and said it will restart uranium conversion in Isfahan as soon as the UN nuclear watchdog supervision team break the seal of the plant.

Monday, deadline to unseal Isfahan's UCF: Mottaki

The UN watchdog should unseal Isfahan uranium conversion facility (UCF) until the end of Monday, said MP Manouchehr Mottaki on Sunday.

Unsealing UCF of Isfahan must be done with or without the presence of inspectors from the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), Head of Foreign Policy Committee of Majlis National Security and Foreign Policy Commission Manouchehr Mottaki said.

"After unsealing of Isfahan's UCF, we should announce our readiness to negotiate with European partners to unseal Natanz facility and restart fuel cycle work", he told reporters on the sidelines of Majlis opening session.

The European Union (EU) and some parts of the IAEA have plotted against Iran and the Iranian nuclear team in a bid to halt Iran's decision to restart work at Isfahan's UCF, he said.
