To help promote Iran tourism among the Chinese, direct flights are planned to be launched between Shanghai and Tehran.
Tehran, 7 August 2005 (CHN) - Iran and China are planning on expanding the flights between the two countries and launching direct flights between Shanghai and Tehran.
The news came following an exhibition and seminar on Iranian tourism attractions held on August the 5th in Iranian Embassy in Beijing, China, and the suggestions by Iranian ambassador there, Fereidoun Vardi Nezhad.
Iran's acting head counsel in Shanghai, Vahid Farmand, announced that talks are underway which will most probably lead to the launching of direct flights from Shanghai to Tehran as a means to ease the travel of Chinese tourists to Iran.
Flights to Tehran are currently leaving from Beijing, east of China, therefore the Chinese living in the west regions of the country should go through a lot of trouble to travel to Tehran.
According to Vardi Nezhad, the current registration of Iran on the tourism Golden List of China has provided Iran with new opportunities to promote its tourism in the country which is the third largest of the world. The Golden List compiled by Chinese officials of countries approved as tourism destinations.
During the exhibition which was attended by several Chinese officials, the former cultural attaché of China in Iran talked of the great historical, cultural, and natural attractions of Iran, encouraging his fellow countrymen to travel to the country.
