Vienna, Aug 9, IRNA-Uranium enrichment and setting up fuel cycle by respecting safeguard agreement of International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) is the right of every member state including Iran, IAEA Director General Mohamed ElBaradei said on Tuesday.
ElBaradei told reporters in a brief interview ahead of emergency meeting of IAEA Board of Governors that the member states are not expected to necessarily go ahead with nuclear program because of threat of proliferation.
A reporter asked about relations between Iran and Western states, ElBaradei said that Iran and the Western states especially the United States have had difficulty in their relations with Iran in the past 25 years and that it will take a long time to remedy their ties in future.
He called on Iran and US to settle their differences on the negotiating table adding that negotiations would be useful for removal of differences.
Answering a question whether language of threat would be effective in breaking the deadlock over Iranian nuclear program, ElBaradei repeated once again that coming back to negotiating table is the only way to reach a settlement and that language of threat will not work in this respect.
He hoped that IAEA would help bring up an atmosphere of confidence between the two parties.
IAEA Board of Governors began emergency meeting to study resumption of producing tetrafluoride at Uranium Conversion Facility in Isfahan (UCF).
ElBaradei and Iranian Representative to the Board of Governors will address the meeting.
France, Britain and Germany called for Board of Governors emergency meeting after a deadlock in Iran-EU nuclear talks.
