Quake rattles Ardakan in central Iran

Yazd, Aug 13, IRNA-An earthquake measuring 4 degrees on the Richter scale shook Kharaneq of Ardakan in the central province of Yazd Saturday morning.

The provincial seismological base, affiliated to Geophysics Institute of Tehran University, registered the tremor at 07:51 hours local time (0321 GMT).

The tremor was registered in an area 32.73 degrees in latitude and 54.59 degrees in longitude, the base added.

There were no reports of any damage to property caused by the quake.

Quakes of varying magnitudes are of usual occurrence in Iran, which lies on one of the world's most active seismic fault lines.

Kharaneq is located 50 km northeast of the provincial capital city of Yazd.
