Tehran, Aug 18, IRNA-An earthquake measuring 4.4 on the Richter cale hit the outskirts of town of Raaz, along joint border line of North Khorassan province and the Republic of Turkmenistan, in the wee hours of Thursday.
The seismological base of Qoochan, affiliated to Geophysics Institute of Tehran University, said in a statement that the quake occurred at 01:25 hours local time Thursday (08:55 GMT Wednesday).
The quake was registered in an area located in 38.17 degrees latitude and 57.49 degrees longitude, the base added.
There were no reports of damage to property caused by the quake.
Quakes of varying magnitudes are of usual occurrence in Iran which lies on one of the world's most active seismic fault lines.
