Tehran, Aug 20, IRNA-Iranian jailed journalist, Akbar Ganji, now being treated at Milad Hospital due to his health condition, was transferred from ICU to general ward, said a hospital official here Saturday.
Director of the hospital's Public Relations Office, Sirous Tabesh, told IRNA that Ganji was taken to the 'Ward 12' of Milad Hospital from Intensive Care Unit (ICU) where he had been under medical treatment since about two months ago.
Noting that Ganji "is now in a better condition," Tabesh said that he had "good cooperation with his doctors."
He expressed satisfaction with Ganji's situation and said the journalist "is currently observing diets prescribed by his doctors."
Ganji was sentenced to six years in prison in 2001 after he wrote a series of articles linking senior officials to the murder of political dissidents.
He was admitted to the hospital on July 18 for knee surgery.
Masoumeh Shafiei, Ganji's wife, told reporters on Friday "he is cooperating with the doctors after arrangements made and negotiations held by the Judiciary officials."
