TEHRAN, Aug. 20 (Mehr News Agency) - The managing director of National Iranian Gas Company (NIGC) Mohammad Mallaki said on Saturday that Iran would export gas to Nakhichevan by the end of the current Iranian year, falling on March 20, 2006.
He added that Iran would export gas to Nakhichevan via Astara. In the export route, Azerbaijan Republic would take certain amount of the gas as the transit cost and then would deliver it to Nakhichevan.
Mallaki also said that Iran and Oman are planning to turn the memorandum of understanding (MOU) on gas export into contracts.
Moreover, he noted that the NIGC has launched the design plan for a pipeline for exporting gas to the Persian Gulf littoral states. Based on the projection, the said pipeline would be constructed between the South Pars Gas Field and Bandar-Abbas from where it would be directed to the export targets.
