Tehran, Aug 26, IRNA-Esteqlal soccer team of Tehran was crowned at the four-sided Peace and Friendship Cup in Azadi Stadium, west of the capital city, Thursday.
The blues stood top with six points out of two games, followed by their old foe Persepolis, Pas, and promoted Shahid Qandi respectively.
Esteqlal of Tehran, which managed to edge past Pas 1-0 in their last Monday's opening clash, handed Qandi a 2-1 defeat.
Persepolis finished runner-up on four points. The reds beat Qandi 2-1, but it was held by Pas to a goalless draw.
Esteqlal, Persepolis, and Pas are the top teams of the capital and Qandi represents the central province of Yazd.
The tournament was a good warm-up for the fifth Iran Pro League (IPL), which will start on September 2.
Foulad of southern province of Khuzestan lifted the fourth IPL title.
