World Grass Skiers Compete in Iran

Tehran, 28 August 2005 (CHN) - 100 skiers from 10 different countries will compete from 6-10 September in Dizin in the 14th world grass ski championship.

Dizin, in driving distance of capital Tehran, is the first ski and winter sport resort in Iran officially recognized and granted the title by the International Ski Federation for its capability in administrating official and international competitions. The ski resort is famous due to the length of its ski course and length of its ski season which usually lasts from end of November to end of May.

Male and female skiers from Germany, Italy, Austria, Swiss, China, Taiwan, Japan, Pakistan, Czech, Iran, and Slovakia are to take part in the event, which will include slalom, giant slalom, and super G competitions.

The opening ceremony, consisting of an official parade of all teams, is to be held on 5th of September in Iran's National Olympics Academy, in Tehran.

According to Issa Saveh Shemshaki, president of Iran ski federation, the piste for the competition is ready and another is also dedicated to the team's practices and final training sessions
