Iranian Travel Agencies Kick off for World Cup

Tehran, 6 December 2005 (CHN) - Three more days to the announcement of Iran's rival teams in World Cup 2006, Iranian travel agencies have started their activities to take Iranian fans to Germany to support their team.

Fifty travel agencies responsible for sports tours have started advertising, providing information on details of the tours, and selling tours to football fans all around Iran. People have been asking for information in large numbers in the few days that have passed, but everyone is still waiting for the name of Iran's competitors to be drawn to decide on purchasing the tours.

Directors of travel agencies believe that if Iran is to play against strong popular teams such as Italy and Brazil fans would rush in to the appointed travel agencies to purchase tours, but if the games are not considered thrilling enough, the number of travelers would not rise as high due to the expenses of the tours and strict conditions of visa and ticket sales which limits personal trips to the country.

World Cup tours would provide football fans with hotel facilities, transfer in Germany, airport transfer, visa, tourism insurance, and tickets to 3 first-round games of Iran. Iran's team is given a 2000 ticket share for the games of the first round, and the tours are planned to be sent to Germany in 50 groups of 40.

If Iran succeeds to move up to the second round of the games, Iranian fans can extend their trip and purchase tickets to the following matches, in case their prolonged stay in Germany is re-approved by German embassy. According to director of sports tours of Iran, Akbar Ghamkhar, each country moving up to the next round of the competitions is given an 8% share of the stadium, which will suffice the Iranian fans who will travel to Germany to support their team.
