Tehran, Dec 10, IRNA-An earthquake measuring 4.2 on the Richter scale hit southern parts of Nehbandan city in the eastern province of South Khorassan Saturday morning.
According to the seismological base of the Geophysics Institute of Tehran University, the quake occurred at 09:02 hours local time (05:32 GMT).
The area hit by the tremor measured 60.14 degrees in longitude and 30.96 degrees in latitude, the report added.
An earthquake measuring 3.5 on the Richter scale jolted northwestern parts of Birjand city in the same province Friday evening.
The tremor, which occurred at 14:32 hours local time (11:02 GMT), was felt in an area measuring 60.21 degrees in longitude and 33.22 degrees in latitude.
There are no reports of any casualty or damage to property caused by the quakes.
Quakes of varying magnitudes often occur in Iran, which is situated on some of the world's most active seismic faultlines.
